News from the pews
11 July 2026
Good morning all
Again, not a great deal of news this week - which is not to say there's nothing going on! We've hosted three heritage skills workshops for three cohorts of primary and secondary school children in the churchyard since last Friday, and also held interviews for the main building contractor responsible for restoration works, should our grant application to The National Lottery Heritage Fund be successful: it's been all go!
Looking ahead, a message from John Cole:
I will be sharing Holy Communion and singing hymns with the residents of Fairhaven residential home this coming Saturday (11th) at 10am (ie TODAY). Everyone is welcome to join us.
Next, as I mentioned at the end of last Sunday's 10am service, little Samuel, aged 5 months, will be baptised during the 10am service on Sunday 19 July. His parents Ady and Sumit would like to invite the congregation to share in refreshments after the service. They are keen to have a rough idea of how many of us will stay, so they can organise catering. They had hoped that family from India might be able to come over, but sadly this hasn't been possible. It would be super if we - as members of Samuel's Christian family - might lend our celebratory support. There'll be a sign-up sheet at the back of church from tomorrow onwards. Please come!
And finally... We may not be able to staff the children's corner tomorrow. Children are, of course, more than welcome to attend the service, but they might like to bring something to keep them busy if the colouring sheet Madeleine has kindly prepared doesn't quite cut it for the full hour! I'll do my best to tailor my sermon to suit all ages...
Bible readings will be Isaiah 55: 10-13 and Matthew 13: 1-9, 18-23
Perhaps see you tomorrow!
Eleanor
