  • An evening with The Band of Hope

On Saturday 1st October we were delighted to welcome The Band of Hope who performed popular music of the 1920s and early 30s.

The band raised money in aid of the current Ukrainian crisis, and for St Andrew’s Church.

It was a fantastic night with a great turnout, and we are very grateful to the band and to everyone who came!

  • 70 Years of Royal Tours Festival 8th - 15th June

The church has been transformed by flowers, banners, artwork and exhibits all in celebration of the Queen’s Jubilee. The church flower arrangers have surpassed themselves with themed displays commemorating the Coronation and a number of Royal tours made by the Queen.

It’s a globetrotting display of representing visits made by the Queen in her 70-year reign including places near (Ely!) and far (Canada, Kenya, Japan and many, many other countries). Take a virtual tour of the exhibition by clicking on the link here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAB-Voo1X9E

We were also pleased to display an exhibition of Soham through the 70 years of the Queen’s reign prepared by Soham Heritage and Tourism.

We are lucky enough to have a number of residents who remember Coronation Day vividly, and we have captured their memories of that special day on the ‘Memories’ video, click on the link to hear how some Soham residents spent that very special day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOhvMndXjCc

The festival was made possible by the support and contribution of the following groups, to whom we say a huge THANK YOU!

Soham Knit & Knatter, Soham Community Group, Soham over 60s, Soham Monday Club, St Andrew’s Primary School, Weatheralls Primary School, the Shade Primary School, Soham Beavers, 1st and 7th Soham Brownies, Royal British Legion (Soham Branch) Little Wombats (pre-school and wrap-around care), Soham Heritage and Tourism.

  • Platinum Jubilee Events

    Jubilee Fair - 11 June

The sun shone all day for our Jubilee Fair.

Over 20 stalls were pitched in the churchyard selling a wide variety of crafts, plants and home-made items. We were also joined by a number of charities raising funds for their cause and Soham Park Run, looking to inspire us all to join in their regular Saturday morning run (or walk).

Visitors to the fair also took the opportunity to visit our Royal Tours Festival inside the church and, for the first time in over two years, we were able to serve refreshments to our visitors inside the church.

Songs of Praise - 12th June

Members of Soham Comrades Band provided a rousing musical tribute in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on Sunday afternoon. The Band entertained the crowds with favourites old and new to give thanks for Her Majesty’s 70-year reign.
