Dear Friends

Lots of new this week, beginning with a message from John Cole jc75452@gmail.com

There are two, yes two Christmas meals this year. Sign up sheets are at the back in church. One is for Thursday 3rd December at 1.30pm and the other for Thursday 10th December at 6.30pm. A non-returnable deposit of £10 is required by Sunday 15th November for the 3rd of December meal, and by Sunday 22nd November for the 10th of December meal. You can, if you wish - like me - go to both of them.

And another from our local Foodbank, who received the food we and our local pre-schools brought to church in Harvest week:

Dear St Andrew's Church, Soham,

Thank you so much for your Harvest donation to Ely Foodbank.

Thank you again for standing with your neighbours this Harvest.

Warm wishes,

Jessie

This coming Sunday 1 November is All Saints Day. There will be the usual 8am and 10am services in church, followed by our annual 'Time to Remember' service at 3pm. I have merrily offered 'A cup of tea for anyone who would like to stay' after this service, but not organised anyone to make the tea(!). Numbers are usually small, so if you were able to step into the breach, please do let me know. Not having to make the tea myself would enable me to stand at the church door and say goodbye to people as they leave. Back to the 10am service, the Bible readings will be Revelation 7: 9-end and Matthew 5: 1-12.

The latest What's On leaflet showing church events and services from Nov-January is now available in church. Please note the Church & Churchyard Clear-up on Sat. 14 November 10.30am-12 noon, timed so we'll look spic and span when a team from The National Lottery Heritage Fund visit us prior to assessing our most recent funding application... Please come and lend a hand if you can!

And finally... Many thanks to everyone who helped at/came along to Wednesday's Jam Sandwich Club. It was a very happy occasion, and greatly enjoyed by all those who came (as far as I could tell from my vantage point on the door...).

That's all folks for now. Perhaps see you Sunday.

With best wishes

Eleanor
