News from the pews
5th August 2026
Dear Friends
Early news this week, as I am about to sign off until Thursday 13 August. I won't pick up emails or phone messages between now and then.
You'll be pleased to know that the Revd Hannah Richardson who was curate here until 3 years ago will be leading and preaching at Sunday's 10am service alongside Philip. She is really looking forward to being back, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. The Bible readings for that service will be Matthew 14: 22-33 and 1 Kings 19: 9-18.
Both Hannah and Samuel - her and her husband Simon's three-year-old son - were at Jam Sandwich Club today, for the first of the summer sessions (every Wednesday in August, 11am-12.30pm) . They had a lovely time. Thanks to all the helpers, and to Madeleine for organising it all: one granny told me her granddaughters can't wait to come to 'Glam Sandwich Club'(!). All the hard work is appreciated!
More good news is that our application to The National Lottery Heritage Fund for major funding to repair the church building and carry out an extensive programme of community engagement activities has been submitted. We'll know the outcome in January. For now, we wait - and pray...
With best wishes - have a good week, I hope
Eleanor
